Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

Class 1F is taught by Miss Follen and Mrs Robertson and 1M is taught by Miss Mohamed and Miss Berry.

What's coming up...

This half term our Topic is 'Queens and Castles'. In English we will be exploring differernt traditional tales and in Topic we shall be finding out about our Royal Family. Our learning will culminate in a royal party fit for a Prince and Princess!

In Maths we will be continuing our Maths fluency and recall of number facts to 20. It would be greatly appreciated if, at home, you could practise addition and subtraction facts to 20.

Super Science

In Science Year 1M have identified and classified useful materials to fix a broken umbrella. They had to discuss what an umbrella was used for and then they worked out what the best material would be to fix the umbrella by using water and a pipette. We spoke about the word ‘waterproof’ and why it is important to use waterproof materials when making an umbrella. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experiment!
