What have we learnt in English in Autumn Term 1

During our English lessons, we have covered of different topics in the last 7 weeks. At the beginning of term, we had a super focused SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) week, where we focused on learning how to use speech marks and writing interesting sentences.

From week 2 to week 4, we used our History topic of the Suffragettes to write our own balanced argument on whether or not women should be allowed to vote. In both classes, we were able to engage in class debates and had to provide evidence to justify our points.

From week 5 to 7, we focused on looking at different biographies - including writing our own one! As a part of Black History Month and our history topic of Iconic Women, we decided to write our biography on Rosa Parks. The children had to complete research using the chromebooks to find out all about her life and find out what she did to become so iconic and important!

Please have a read below of some of the children's work throughout the term!
