PSHE

At St Catherine’s we use the JIGSAW scheme to deliver a wide range of teaching, allowing children to flourish in their future. PSHE is underpinned by our Christian values and children are encouraged to be inquisitive, question their own beliefs and morals and consider the viewpoints of others. The nature of the spiral approach allows our children to revisit crucial themes including values of respect, compassion, humility, love, integrity and forgiveness. They are given opportunities to take risks, be thankful, show creativity and find inner strength and resilience, which will stay with them as they encounter different life experiences. Through 'calm me' time during all lessons children are encouraged to become aware and develop their own spirituality through the stillness and peace offered to them. PSHE is taught in weekly sessions, with the theme of the lesson being presented in a variety of different ways in order to engage and enthuse all of our children.

There are 6 different units that are taught throughout the school from Nursery to Year 6. The units are-

  • Being Me in My World
  • Celebrating Difference
  • Dreams and Goals
  • Healthy Me
  • Relationships
  • Changing Me

Below is the Parents and Carers information leaflet about the Jigsaw scheme.
