Key Stage 1

Paradise Wildlife Park

Year 1 went to visit Paradise Wildlife Park. We had lots of fun looking at all the different animals and finding out about herbivores, omnivores and carnivores. We also enjoyed playing in the adventure playground and hiding from the hail storm!

Fairytales

Today, we made jam sandwiches and wrote instructions on how to make them. We also made our own crowns and practised our ballroom dancing.

We had a great day!

Year 2 baking

We spent a day baking and decorating biscuits as part of our work on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We enjoyed using the recipe and weighing out the ingredients. Our biscuits looked really colourful!

Church visit

Year 2 went to St Mary's church to learn more about what Christians do at church and why they go. We had a great time with Ysmena, who taught us a lot about churches.

Our Super Space Adventure!

In English this week, Year 1 we have been reading 'Here come the aliens!' We have been using this book to describe the different characters, write our own short poem and identifying words that rhyme.

In Maths this week, Year 1 we have been learning how to tell the time using an analogue clock. We have focused on identifying the clock features and showing o'clock times.

In Art we will be making our own aliens from different materials.

Chocolate in Year 2!

We are currently reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. We are also learning about where chocolate comes from and how it is made. After half term, we are hoping to do some cooking so that we learn more about preparing food in a hygienic way. In computing, we have been using the iPads to explore an app that allows us to make a short movie. You might get to see some of these soon!

Bhaktivedanta Manor

Year 1 went on a trip to Bhaktivedanta Manor to learn about Hinduism and Diwali. We got to ride on a cart being pulled by an Oxen, dressed up in Saris and Turbans and learnt the story of Rama and Sita.

London's burning!

Year 2 had a really exciting day on 2nd November. We had a show about the Great Fire of London in the morning and lots of us took part as different characters. In the afternoon, three fire fighters came and set fire to our Tudor houses, just like in the Fire of London! They showed us how quickly the fire spread and then put the rest of it out with a hose. They showed us the fire engine and talked about fire safety. We had a brilliant time with them.

Changing seasons

Year 1 went on an Autumn walk to see what changes are happening to the leaves and trees in our school.

Old toys!

Mrs Millet visited year 1 to speak to us about 'old toys'. We got to look at some really interesting things.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Class 1K enjoyed spending the day with our favourite teddies and ended the day with teddy bear's picnic in the lovely sunshine.
